I bumped into Soren Solkaer down a small Melbourne laneway in 2012 as he was shooting Kaff-eine for this very project. I didn’t comprehend back then what a serious talent he was and how his work would inspire me. Later I realised that there was more to documenting street art and graffiti than just taking a photo of a piece on a wall. Soren’s incredibly beautiful shots are compositions that express so much about the artists, their personalities, their work and the relationship between them. Not surprising is the fact that so many Melbourne and Australian artists are included such as Kaff-eine, Adnate, Ian Strange, Lush, Vexta, Rone, Will Coles, Meggs, Phibs, Sofles, Lister, Dabs Myla, Miso, HaHa, Fintan Magee, and ELK.
If you have the chance, get to NKN Gallery this month to see these prints before they go on the road to LA, NYC, Canada and Copenhagen.
