REVOLVER – BANKSY AND MORE…

Revolver has been a madly successful club in Melbourne for decades and has always welcomed all types of artists to paint and paste up on their walls. They have a large space indoors called The Poster Wall as well as the wall in The Smoking Yard which are regularly updated. One of the early artists to have dropped past was Banksy who was here in 2003 – this is by far the largest collection of original Banksy stencils surviving on walls in Melbourne. There have been other big local and international street artists come through including Dabs Myla, Shephard Fairey, D*Face, Herakut, Does, Eno, Insa, Shida, Buff Monster and Mark Bode just to name a few. One of my favourite times being involved with bringing artists here was the time genius street artist Will Coles took over and together we installed literally hundreds of his little sculptures throughout the venue – unfortunately over the last few years, many of these have been stolen.
