Melbourne graffiti writer DVATE (SDM Crew) recently completed this large scale mural measuring 18mts X 12mts on the back wall of the newly refurbished Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn. The classic building opened as a cinema in 1911, revamped in the 1930’s and still has the original circular patterned plaster ceiling and art deco design throughout the interior which DVATE cleverly incorporated into his artwork. The colour scheme used in the mural also matches the eight separate colour themed cinemas now housed within the old building. The piece is true to DVATE’s extensive background and skills in traditional graffiti although larger, bolder and more abstract.
